RDU Says Thanks to Customers
RDU Airport, NC – Customers visiting Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Friday will get a taste of RDU at the airport's annual Customer Appreciation Day. At the event, The Shops of RDU restaurants will feature samples of their signature menu items, specialty retail shops will hand out giveaways, while some airlines will hold drawings for free tickets. The event, which is part of National Customer Service Week, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the airport's parking garage atrium.
“While customer service is a priority for RDU everyday of the year,” said Jane Martin, who oversees the airport's customer service programs, “We like to take one special day each year to bring the shops, restaurants and other airport tenants together to thank our customers for choosing RDU.”
The Transportation Security Administration, the USO and U.S. Customs and Border Protection will also be participating in the event. In all, 32 exhibits will be featured. Customers will also be treated to Calypso music from Tim Smith and Dixieland jazz courtesy of The Razzamajazz Dixieland Band.
Throughout the four hour event, customers can also enter drawings for special gifts from Brighton Collectibles, Brooks Brothers, PGA Tour Shop and A Southern Season, as well as gift cards courtesy of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority.
RDU to Introduce Signature Art
On display during the event will be RDU's Signature Art, a collection of nearly 5,000 signatures from visitors who attended the Terminal 2 open house celebration held last October. Each signature collected at the open house was transferred to a glass etching. The piece is internally lit and is encased by a wood frame.
Following Customer Appreciation Day, the piece will be displayed in the Heritage Room located in Terminal 2 on the ticketing level.
The work was designed to capture the community's participation in the opening of Terminal 2. The piece was created by Dunne Dittman, a former Southwest Airlines employee and artist of Earlier Flight, which is featured in RDU's parking garage atrium.
