RDU Kicks Off Holiday Music Series
RDU Airport, NC – Live music will greet holiday travelers as the busy year-end travel season kicks off this Friday, December 19, at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Holiday travelers and their family and friends will enjoy music ranging from Americana to bluegrass and jazz.
This year's music series begins at 10 a.m. this Friday with Chapel Hill-based Southern Routes. The trio will perform Americana classics in the Terminal 1 ticketing area. The group is just one of 14 that will perform in both terminals throughout the year-end holiday travel period.
The Shops of RDU will also be hosting events for children of all ages. Isabelle the Clown and the Magician Geoff Lloyd will entertain passengers as they wait for their flights to depart. Santa Claus will also make several special appearances.
A complete listing of holiday entertainment, including dates and times, can be found at www.rdu.com.
Fundraiser Supports USO Center
RDU, through a partnership with the USO, will host a fundraiser to support the USO Center located in Terminal 1. Volunteers from the USO will be accepting donations from 1 – 5 p.m. in Terminals 1 and 2 through January 5.
Last year the event raised $12,000 for the USO Center, which assists more than 2,000 military service members and their families each month.
Borders Books is also holding a book drive. Customers may purchase any Borders retail item. The bookstore will then provide the items to the USO Center for distribution to military service members and their families.
