Jan 25, 2016

RDU Airport, N.C. –This week, Raleigh-Durham International Airport will host its second public meeting for Vision2040, it master plan study. The meetings will be held Jan. 27 and 28 in Durham and Raleigh. The public is invited and encouraged to attend to learn about progress made in the study since the last meetings, which were held in June.

The workshops will be held:

January 27, 6 p.m.
Doris Duke Center
Duke Gardens
420 Anderson St.
Durham, NC

January 28, 6 p.m.
Center for Community Leadership
Junior League of Raleigh
711 Hillsborough St.
Raleigh, NC

Since the last workshop, the Airport Authority and its consultant, Ricondo and Associates, has conducted an analysis to determine future aircraft and passenger activity at RDU and gauged existing facilities’ ability to meet this future demand.

The next step in the process will be to develop alternative ways to meet future demand and continue to provide high levels of customer service in keeping with the Airport Authority’s mission and vision. This may potentially include improvements to the airfield, passenger terminals, parking and rental car infrastructure, along with other support facilities.

Alternatives will provide solutions that can be phased in based upon identified triggers, such as increases in passenger and airline activity.

The meeting will begin with a presentation from Ricondo and Associates. Attendees will then be invited to visit topic specific stations where they can ask questions and receive additional information on the findings to date.
