RDU to Hold July 4 Celebration for Holiday Travelers
RDU Airport, NC – In honor of July 4, Raleigh-Durham International Airport will host a holiday celebration from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow, July 2, on the terminal concourses. Holiday travelers will have the opportunity to support the troops and the USO at RDU, while enjoying live music and gifts for children.
As part of the festivities, volunteers from the USO will provide mini cupcakes to travelers, who will have the opportunity to write a note to the troops overseas and make a donation to the USO. Each month, more than 2,000 military service members and their families travel through the USO in Terminal 1. An additional USO will open when phase two of Terminal 2 is completed in January 2011.
The holiday event is co-hosted by The Shops of RDU, the collection of more than 35 shops and restaurants that line RDU’s concourses.
The July 4 holiday weekend will be busy at RDU. More than 28,000 passengers are expected to travel through RDU on Friday alone.
