RDU Begins Runway Rehabilitation Project

May 31, 2008

RDU Airport, NC – This week, crews at Raleigh-Durham International Airport began a temporary closure of the runway adjacent to Terminal A to perform rehabilitation work. The runway is expected to reopen June 24, weather permitting. Crews will build new shoulders along the runway as well as upgrade the runway lighting system.

The closure will not affect travelers. Residents living near the airport may notice a slight adjustment in flight patterns as commercial aircraft is routed to the airport’s runway adjacent to Terminal C.

During the closures, visitors to the airport’s Observation Park will benefit from increased airplane activity.
