Raleigh-Durham International Airport Posts 4 Percent Gain in Passengers
RDU Airport, NC – The number of passengers traveling through Raleigh-Durham International Airport during August rose nearly 4 percent compared to August 2011. The numbers were released today at the monthly meeting of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Board.
More than 830,000 passengers traveled through RDU during the month, up from 803,000 during the same month last year.
The increase is attributed to a high load factor, which refers to the percentage of seats filled on a flight, and the Labor Day holiday. This year, one day of the Labor Day holiday travel period fell in August, which it did not last year.
For the year, the number of passengers traveling through RDU is up just over 1 percent.
