Raleigh-Durham International Airport Announces Nonstop Service to Denver
RDU Airport, NC – Raleigh-Durham International Airport today announced new daily nonstop service to Denver on United Airlines. Mainline service to the popular business and leisure destination will begin on April 24 with one flight per day.
”Nearly 400 passengers travel between RDU and Denver each day, making it the largest RDU market without nonstop service,” said Teresa Damiano, RDU Airport Authority marketing director. “The Triangle region and Denver each are home to leaders in the finance, high-tech and healthcare industries. This new service will help facilitate these business synergies.”
“Nonstop service to Denver has been a top economic development goal of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership,” said Ted Abernathy, CEO, Research Triangle Regional Partnership. “This opportunity will help our business community improve its economic competitiveness and will contribute to our overall goal of being one of the leading global regions in terms of innovation and intellectual capacity. For our high- technology and life science companies, air mobility is a top priority.”
In a 2005 air service study conducted by the Airport Authority, Denver was identified as one of the top three domestic destinations for which service could be supported. Service to Los Angeles, which was also identified as a top destination, began last summer.
“This new service will make a tremendous difference to our clients with major business interests in Denver,” said Al Baldy, executive vice president for Maupin Travel of Raleigh. ”Currently, our business travelers to Denver have a one-stop connection through other cities. As a result, they are spending a lot of time in airports, which greatly impacts their productivity.”
The flight to United’s hub in Denver also offers travelers another route through which to reach the west coast. From Denver International Airport, passengers can connect to 91 destinations in 36 countries.
With the addition of service to Denver, airlines serving RDU offer nonstop service to 39 destinations.
