Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority to Hold Information Session on Terminal C Building Contract

Aug 30, 2005

RDU Airport, NC – On Thursday, September 1, from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m, the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority will hold an information session on the building contract for the airport's $350 million terminal redevelopment and expansion. The event will be held at the RDU Airport Authority Administrative offices located at 1000 Trade Drive, across the street from Alamo Rent A Car.

At this session, local subcontractors and vendors will have the opportunity to discuss subcontracting opportunities with the general contractors who have been pre-qualified to bid on the project. For the construction phase of the project, RDU is using the single prime contracting method. Five general contractors have been pre-qualified to submit bids.

Members of the construction management team will also be available to answer questions and provide information on the scope of the project. The preliminary project plans and specifications will be available for review.

A major focus of the session is the authority's minority business participation plan for the project.

“RDU is committed to ensuring local and Minority Business Enterprise certified firms have an equal opportunity to participate in airport projects,” said Shelby Moorman, RDU DBE program officer. “At this session, firms will network with other contractors and learn more about the MBE certification process.”

Service providers will be available to MBE firms interested in seeking information on certification, bonding, insurance, bidding/estimating and financial assistance.

The Terminal C building contract will go out to bid on Wednesday, September 7. The Authority will hold a Pre-Bid Conference, MBE Workshop and Networking Session on Thursday, September 29 at North Carolina State University 's McKimmon Center. Bids will be received on Wednesday, November 2.
