Passengers Traveling After November 1 Reminded of TSA Secure Flight Requirement
RDU Airport, NC – Beginning November 1, the Transportation Security Administration will require all passengers to provide complete passenger data when booking airline reservations. TSA receives this information from airlines and online booking services and compares it to its no-fly list. Once this process is completed and no match is found, TSA gives airlines approval to issue the passenger’s boarding pass.
TSA began phasing in the program, titled Secure Flight, in August 2009.
All passengers traveling after November 1 must provide the following information when booking their reservations:
- Full name as it appears on a government-issued ID
- Date of birth
- Gender
If a passenger has an existing reservation for travel after November 1, and is unsure if they provided Secure Flight information, the TSA advises that they contact their airline or booking source prior to travel.
The TSA has complete information on the program on its website www.tsa.gov.
