Northwest Airlines to Move to RDU's Terminal 2

Mar 18, 2009

RDU Airport, NC – On Tuesday, March 24, Northwest Airlines will begin operating from Raleigh-Durham International Airport's Terminal 2. The move is the result of Northwest's recent merger with Delta Air Lines. Northwest, along with Delta, will operate from gates C7, C9, C10, C11, C12 and C15 in Terminal 2.

Northwest will continue to operate from Terminal 1 until the evening of Monday, March 23. On that day, some late inbound flights will arrive in Terminal 2.

Northwest is not the only airline that is moving to new gates. At the end of April, Continental Airlines will relocate from the Terminal 1 south concourse to Gates A17, A18 and A19, which were used by Delta before its move to Terminal 2. The relocation will decrease the walking distance between the security checkpoint and Continental's gates.

The move will allow the Airport Authority to close the south concourse, which is also currently home to Northwest.
