Midwest Airlines Lands at RDU
RDU Airport, NC – Officials at Raleigh-Durham International Airport today welcomed Midwest Airlines and its nonstop service between the Research Triangle Region and Milwaukee. The airline will offer two daily departures on 76-seat Embaer-170 aircraft. The airline will operate from gate C-25 in RDU's Terminal 2.
”We are happy to announce that 74 of the 76 seats on the arriving flight were filled,” said RDU Airport Director John Brantley. ”And this evening's arriving and departing flights are fully booked, illustrating the strong relationship between the Raleigh-Durham area and Milwaukee.”
Midwest Airlines serves more than 30 destinations from its Milwaukee hub, from which passengers have access to top destinations for Research Triangle Region travelers, including Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego and Denver.
”We are excited to welcome Midwest back to RDU,” said Teresa Damiano, RDU's director of marketing. ”The two regions share synergies between government, education and technology. In addition, we look forward to forging a partnership with Republic Airways Holdings, parent company of Midwest.”
Republic Airways Holdings owns Chautauqua Airlines, Republic Airlines, Frontier Airlines and Shuttle America.
Midwest Airlines offered service at RDU as Midwest Connect from 1998 to 2001. The airline relaunched service in 2007 but discontinued it in 2008 due to high fuel costs.
