RDU Airport, NC – Michael Landguth today held his first Airport Authority Board meeting since officially taking the post of airport director at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Monday, Nov. 21.
“It is great to be here,” said Landguth. “Over the past few weeks, I have spent my time getting to know RDU’s talented staff and meeting members of the region’s economic development community. These partnerships with our region’s leaders will be very important as RDU begins to develop and implement its air service goals for the future.”
As airport director, Landguth has responsibility for RDU’s overall organization, staffing, budgeting, strategic planning and operations.

RDU Prepares for Second Wave of Holiday Travelers
The Christmas holiday travel period begins at RDU on Monday, Dec. 19 and will continue through Monday, Jan. 2, 2012.
“If Thanksgiving is an indicator,” said Landguth. “This holiday travel period will go very smoothly if the weather cooperates. During Thanksgiving, the lines at the checkpoint never exceeded 20 minutes. For that, I want to thank Airport Authority staff and the TSA for working together to help travelers through the security screening process.”
Landguth also credited the design of Terminal 2.
“Terminal 2 was designed to improve and ease our customers’ travel experience,” he said. “And that is just what it did during the busy Thanksgiving period when more than 200,000 travelers passed through the airport.”
Landguth also reported that the checkpoint lines did not exceed 20 minutes on the busiest travel days and that ample parking was available for customers.
