Heavy Traffic Expected at RDU over Labor Day Weekend
Parking Garage Improvements to Begin After the Holiday
More than 126,000 passengers are expected to fly through Raleigh-Durham International Airport over the Labor Day weekend. The peak travel day will be Friday, Aug. 30, with more than 45,000 people passing through RDU. Travelers are encouraged to pack their patience during the busy holiday weekend.
“We recommend that passengers arrive two hours early to allow enough time to navigate traffic, find parking and get through security checkpoints, said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “Passengers can also save time and money by booking parking online for the guaranteed lowest price and entry into the lot of their choice”.
ParkRDU is offering two online-only specials during the Labor Day weekend. Customers can unlock $10-a-day terminal garage parking by visiting www.ParkRDU.com and booking ParkRDU Central using the promo code LABORDAY for stays from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2. Customers who choose to book parking in RDU’s new Express lot via www.ParkRDU.com can get an exclusive coupon to save $5 when they spend $20 on shopping or dining in the terminals. Parking must be booked online 24 hours in advance to take advantage of these specials.
Parking garage impacts: work to remove and repair paint on levels two through six of RDU’s parking garage will begin in the days following Labor Day and continue through mid-May. The number of available parking spaces will be reduced by an average of 1,150 a week during the repairs. All parking spaces will be available from Saturday, Nov. 23 through Friday, Jan. 3 to accommodate increased travel volume during the busy holiday season.
