ExpressJet to Begin Service from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Six Popular Business Destinations
RDU Airport, NC – ExpressJet Airlines recently announced it will begin non-stop service from RDU to: Birmingham; Jacksonville, Fla; Louisville; Kansas City, Mo; New Orleans and San Antonio. The airline will offer two daily departures to all cities except for Kansas City, to which it will offer three daily departures.
ExpressJet is set to begin service from RDU on May 7 with service to Jacksonville, Louisville and Kansas City. Service to Birmingham and New Orleans begins on May 14, while flights to San Antonio will launch on June 12.
The six destinations announced by ExpressJet offer important connections for regional industries. Agribusiness ties Kansas City to the Triangle, primarily through the work of Bayer Crop Sciences and university research. San Antonio and the Triangle region share strong telecommunications connections, while Louisville is linked to the region’s vehicle parts manufacturing and healthcare clusters. Financial service firms here will benefit from the new nonstop service to Birmingham and Jacksonville.
The ExpressJet fleet of 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145XR aircraft is configured with no middle seat, assigning every ExpressJet passenger a seat on the aisle, window or both. ExpressJet service will also offer valet carry-on bag service and complimentary brand snacks with full meal service options available on longer flights.
“ExpressJet is bringing a young fleet of planes and more comfort, convenience and quality customer service to cities that either did not have nonstop service, or had too few travel options,” Jim Ream, ExpressJet President and CEO, said. “Now, our customers will be able to relax on a non-stop flight, in a comfortable leather seat with more than 100 channels of free XM radio.”
With the addition of ExpressJet’s six destinations, airlines will offer 45 non-stop destinations from RDU.
