Even More Records Break: June Passenger Count Reaches All-Time High
RDU Launches New Weekend Parking Special As Online Booking Test Continues
RDU Airport, NC – More than 600,000 people boarded airplanes at Raleigh-Durham International Airport during June, the first time in the airport’s history that enplanements crossed the 600,000 mark. The record came during the airport’s 52nd consecutive month of growth. All domestic carriers showed an increase in passenger numbers over June 2017, with international flights up more than 25 percent.
“We are thrilled to welcome more travelers at RDU than ever before,” said Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Landguth. “We’re grateful that our customers choose to fly through RDU time and time again – with some of them driving 2 hours or more to reach the airport. We will be refreshing our facilities and building more infrastructure to keep pace with passenger demand.”
Frontier Airlines launched new service to Syracuse and Portland (Maine) in the past month with nonstop service to Harrisburg, Penn., beginning next week. Frontier also launches nonstop service to San Diego in August. Delta Air Lines will begin three daily roundtrip flights to Chicago-O’Hare in April 2019 via E-175 aircraft.
