Aeromexico to Launch RDU to Mexico City Service in Summer 2024

Nov 13, 2023

Will Become RDU’s 17th Airline and 9th International Route

Aeromexico will launch nonstop service from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to Mexico City Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) in July 2024, becoming RDU’s 17th airline and the first to serve Mexico’s capital city.

“RDU continues to attract new airlines and international destinations because of the Triangle’s vibrant global community and status as a hub for education, technology and great quality of life,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “We are excited to welcome Aeromexico to North Carolina and provide travelers with direct access to Mexico City and Aeromexico’s extensive network of flights.”

The Aeromexico service will begin July 1, 2024, and operate daily out of Terminal 2 on an Embraer E-190 with 99 seats. The route is operated under Aeromexico and Delta Air Line’s Joint Cooperation Agreement that offers an extensive network of flights, with exclusive products and services, as well as frequent flyer benefits with lounge access.

"We are pleased to announce a new nonstop service linking Raleigh-Durham to Mexico City,” said Jeff Morgan, Aeromexico´s Senior Vice President - Network Planning and Scheduling. “This new route will make it more convenient than ever for North Carolinians to visit Mexico's vibrant capital city, where they can experience a world-class culinary scene and the cultural wonders of a history dating back almost 700 years. In addition, this route will create new connecting options with Aeromexico's extensive national network, giving travelers enhanced access to Mexico's business centers, beautiful beaches, and historical sites.”

Aeromexico is the third new airline to begin or announce international service at RDU in 2023. The inaugural Air France flight from Paris to RDU landed on Oct. 30 and Lufthansa announced in September it will launch nonstop service to Frankfurt, Germany next June. Mexico City will be RDU’s ninth international destination.
