RDU has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is home to Southwest and AirTran and opened in April. Terminal 2 houses the majority of airlines at RDU. Learn more about our terminals. Catching a Rental Car? Nine rental car companies operate at RDU. To catch your shuttle, exit bag claim and go to the green “Rental Car” zone. Shuttles from each of the companies continuously loop the airport. If you don’t have a reservation, use the reservation board in bag claim to make one. What if I’m taking a limo or other transportation service? Similar to the rental cars, these companies pick up on the terminal curbside. Limousines, sedans and other transportation services pick up from the brown “Limo” zone. Need a ride to Pinehurst? Look up transportation services permitted to operate at RDU. Where are my golf clubs? In Terminal 1, oversized checked bags, such as golf clubs, arrive on the oversized bag bins adjacent to the bag carrousel. In Terminal 2, they’re located on the rear wall of bag claim. I need help with my bags. Simply visit the Information Desks in bag claim, and our Guest Services Ambassadors will help you arrange assistance. How far is Pinehurst? Pinehurst is 90 minutes south of RDU. There are two basic routes, toll and non-toll. Taking N.C. 540 to U.S. 1 South will save a bit of time, but there is a toll (collected by mail). Visit the N.C. Department of Transportation for more information. Taking I-40 East to U.S. 1 South is toll-free but takes a few minutes longer. Where should I visit while I’m here? If you want to explore North Carolina, head to our Information Desks. Our Guest Services Ambassadors are certified N.C. Travel Counselors and can assist you with recommendations on places to visit, stay and even eat! Also, we’ll have desks in Bag Claim staffed by locals from the Pinehurst area to assist as well. I’m at the terminal and need to go to General Aviation. If you are a customer of one of our fixed-based operators (Landmark and Tac Air), visit the Information Desks in bag claim, and our staff will call to arrange transportation to General Aviation. Will you have souvenirs at the airport? Many of The Shops of RDU plan to carry Pinehurst and golf-themed merchandise. We’ll share these via our X, Facebook and Google+ pages throughout the tournament. Also, if you’re in Terminal 2, make sure you visit the PGA Tour Shop at Gate D9. Meeting guests flying in? Take advantage of our cell phone waiting lot. If you want to greet them in the terminals, use hourly parking at your terminal. Then, meet your guests at The Meeting Place in the bag claim of each terminal. We hope you have a great time at the U.S. Open and while traveling through RDU.
