Terminal 1 Timelapse: The New Exit Corridor
There perhaps wasn’t a more popular spot on the old Terminal 1 concourse than the food court that housed the quick serve trio of Freshens, Godfather’s Pizza and Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen. Today, that space has been transformed into the location for the new exit corridor from the concourse to bag claim.
In this Terminal 1 time lapse video, checkout the demolition of the old food court and watch the new exit corridor rise in its place. The exit corridor is one of the major changes you’ll experience when Terminal 1 reopens in 2014. The route to bag claim has been moved from the very north end of the concourse to the center, giving a quicker, more intuitive route from the concourse to bag claim.
In the video you’ll see two new elevators being built at the entrance. To the right are large floor to ceiling windows over a new escalator and staircase, which help to flood the concourse with natural light. On the lower level, The Meeting Place will be directly across from the corridor, giving loved ones a comfortable place to wait for your arrival home.
Other things to watch for in this video include the extent of the renovation work and glimpses down the concourse. You’ll see that we really did gut the inside of the terminal for this project. Toward the end of the video look for the new, higher concourse ceilings coming into shape. Enjoy!
