Spring Is In The Air
It may be a tired line, but Spring is in the air at RDU. While the temperature this morning was more winter-like, things are beginning to look like Spring at RDU.
I love this time of year at the airport because after the slow months of January and February, we begin to see more and more travelers taking to the skies for a season that begins with university Spring breaks and continues until the university graduations and Mother’s Day.
Today alone more than 30,000 travelers are expected through RDU as some university students return from Spring break while others take off.

But Spring break travel is not the only thing happening at RDU. Things are getting busy for the airlines as well. In Terminal 1, changes to the early morning departure schedules means more passengers will be flying out of that terminal in the morning, so passengers need to plan ahead. Read the release.
And next month, new service is starting at RDU. American Airlines begins its non-stop service to Los Angeles on April 2, which is welcome news to business travelers. A few days later, Delta Air Lines will expand its service to L.A. to seven days a week.
This is only the beginning, Frontier Airlines also returns to RDU with service to Trenton, N.J., an alternative gateway to Philadelphia and Newark.
So as you can see. Spring is finally here at RDU.
