Non-Stop To Nassau - Plan Your Escape
Go ahead and start planning for your trip now. Delta Air Lines is launching weekly non-stop service from RDU to Nassau in the Bahamas. Flights begin Saturday, Dec. 21 and give you an easy escape to the tropics all year round. I know I’m ready to go!
The Flight

Before I share some things to do in Nassau, here are details on the flight.

- Flight 4929 (both directions of travel)
- Departs RDU at 2:50 p.m. arrives NAS at 4:10 p.m.
- Return flight departs NAS at 11:40 a.m. and arrives at RDU at 2:10 p.m.
- CRJ-900 aircraft
Visiting Nassau
My trip to Nassau was short and I’m itching to go back! Though located on a small island, there’s a lot to explore. And, that’s only if you want to get off of the beautiful white sand beaches or out of the picture-perfect Caribbean water!
- Explore Paradise Island. Home to many resorts, most notably the world-famous Atlantis. Here, you can choose between any number of day passes to enjoy the resort’s water park, tour the aquariums (my wife loved the sea turtle exhibit) or test your luck in the casino.
- Negotiate your deal. The Straw Market in downtown Nassau is an unforgettable experience, offering you the opportunity to pick up unique gifts for home while giving your negotiating skills a workout.
- Experience the heritage. Many sites such as the Pompey Museum and Adelaide give you a taste of the rich African culture that is a major part of the Bahamas’ heritage.
- Wander the gardens. Take a walk through the colorful 11-acre Retreat Gardens and see one of the largest private collections of exotic palm trees.
Travel Essentials
Nassau is our fourth international destination. As such, there are a few nuts and bolts to know before you go.
- A U.S. Passport is required to enter The Bahamas and all tourists must be prepared to show Bahamian customs officers round trip tickets upon entry.
- As you depart Nassau, you will pre-clear U.S. Customs so you will not go through this process when you arrive at RDU.
- Currency in the Bahamas is the Bahamian Dollar. Most vendors will accept U.S. cash, so there’s really no need for exchanging currency. However, if you use an ATM or make a purchase via credit card, it will be done in Bahamian currency.
