Master Plan Update: Who are the PAC and TAC?

Nov 02, 2015

mpsquareIt’s hard to believe that it’s been just over three months since we kicked off our Vision2040 Master Plan process.

We have been pleased to receive input from our community along the way and hope that will continue as we progress through the entire process.

One of the more common questions we have received during this period is, “Who are the PAC and TAC?”

The PAC and TAC are the Policy Advisory Committee and Technical Advisory Committee, respectively.  Both committees are comprised of individuals from various organizations throughout the Triangle who will provide us input throughout the Vision2040 process.  Both committees will meet six times throughout the Vision2040 process. In fact, the second PAC and TAC meetings were held just last month.

So, who serves on these committees and how do they fit in with the overall Vision2040 process?

Policy Advisory Committee

The Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) is comprised of community leaders as well as policy and administrative representatives from local, county and regional organizations. These include representatives from the government, nonprofit and business sectors.

The PAC provides input on the Master Plan from the community’s point of view and provides guidance on how the community may react to or be impacted by various Vision2040 recommendations.

Technical Advisory Committee

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is comprised of professionals from the Airport Authority, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), major tenants/operators at RDU and local Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO).

The TAC provides input and insight into technical aspects of the Vision2040 plan.  Each of its members has a strong background in some aspect of aviation or airport operations or planning.

As we’ve said from the start, public input is vital to the success of the Vision2040 process, and the PAC and TAC are just one of the many ways we hear from the public.  Other opportunities for public input include Public Workshops and comments through the website. We hope to hear from you!
