Cancelling the Terminal 1 Open House
Tuesday morning, we received the first of our deliveries for the Terminal 1 Open House. By early evening that day, it was clear that the weather was not going to cooperate with our open house plans. This morning, Wednesday, it was certain that cancelling the open house was the right call. Albeit one that we were sad to make.

It’s certainly been quite the winter here in the Research Triangle Region.
As an airport, safety is always at the forefront of our minds. As the weather forecasts are showing, the storm forecast for this week is looking to be a doozy for our region. Growing up here, I can remember many an ice storm and the impacts that affect the region for days to come.
Those impacts are predicted to be icy roads and widespread power outages after the storm leaves us. Should the storm live up to the weather predictions, the last thing we would want to do is endanger anyone’s safety by encouraging them to venture out on icy roads.
For us, and our more than 30 event partners, to put on a stellar event, we need to begin preparations today. Waiting to see if conditions might be ok on Friday just isn’t an option.
But there is good news. A new Terminal 1 is coming soon. And we are all excited about that!
After the storm passes, we’re going to regroup and focus on how we can take some of the best plans and exhibits from the Open House and present them to you around the time of the Terminal’s opening.
Stay safe during the storm. We look forward to sharing more about Terminal 1 with you soon!
