United Airlines Adds Second Seasonal Flight To San Francisco
RDU Airport, NC – United Airlines is adding a second daily non-stop flight from RDU to San Francisco International Airport beginning April 1, 2014. The seasonal flight will end on August 18, 2014.
The new Spring/Summer seasonal flight comes on the heels of United’s addition of a second daily flight to SFO for the peak holiday travel days. That flight begins Dec. 19, 2013 and ends Jan. 6, 2014.
“There is no doubt that the RDU-San Francisco route is thriving,” said Teresa Damiano, Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority deputy director for marketing. “This new seasonal service is a direct result of people using the flight consistently. It shows that there is a high demand for service between the Triangle and the Bay Area.
With the new flight, customers can choose between a morning or afternoon departure from RDU and from San Francisco. Tickets for the Spring/Summer seasonal flight go on sale Saturday, at which time the specific flight times will be available. However, United Airlines has told RDU that the flight will be timed similarly to the holiday flight, which has an afternoon departure from RDU and a morning departure from SFO.
United Airlines has been serving RDU-San Francisco non-stop since August 2012. The airline uses Boeing 737-800 service on the route. Via San Francisco, travelers have easy non-stop connections to major Asian destinations including Beijing, Seoul and Tokyo. Both of the seasonal flights will offer excellent connections to several cities in Australia.
