Soak Up The Sun: Delta Improves Service To L.A., Orlando and Tampa

Jan 09, 2013

Great air service news for our region keeps rolling in to start 2013. Delta Air Lines is upgrading its service to Los Angeles, adding a second daily flight to Orlando and launching service to Tampa this Spring.

Since 2006, Delta Air Lines has connected the Research Triangle Region to Los Angeles with seasonal, several-times-weekly non-stop service. Beginning April 8, the airline is upgrading the route to connect our regions with daily service aboard Boeing 737-800 series aircraft.

The flight will depart RDU at 7 a.m., arriving in L.A. by 9:30 a.m. local time. It will return via an overnight flight departing at 10:30 p.m. and landing at RDU at 6:10 a.m. If you’re adventurous enough, you could make a nearly 24-hour day trip with a redeye flight home. But for the rest of us, the timing of the flight lends to excellent business schedules and convenient connections to San Diego, Sacramento, Oakland and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

When it comes to Florida, Delta is adding a second daily flight to Orlando, one of our most popular destinations. And why not? With year-round sunshine and an abundance of theme parks and attractions, it’s easy why there’s a lot of demand for flight to central Florida. The new flight will be offered mid-day, an easy trip for all travelers.

And, Delta is launching service to one of our top 10 destinations, Tampa. Located on the beautiful Gulf Coast, you now have a reason to book your tickets to watch your favorite baseball player in action at one of the many spring training camps dotting the region. Delta’s daily non-stop flight to Tampa will also be a mid-day flight, giving you plenty of time to soak in the sun or head to the beach after you touch down.

We are very excited about the opportunities these new flights bring to our region. Book your flights on Delta today.
