Lane Closures at RDU Begin Next Week as Part of Roadway Rehabilitation Project
RDU Airport, NC – Customers traveling through Raleigh-Durham International Airport next week should expect lane closures as the airport begins two roadway repair projects. The impacted roadways are near Terminal 2 and at National Guard Drive. Work at both sites will begin on Monday, Sept. 26 and continue through Friday, Sept. 30, weather permitting.
Delays Possible at Terminal 2
As part of the roadway repairs, crews will work around the clock to replace and strengthen the center lane of Terminal Boulevard between International Drive and the Terminal 2 lower level pick up area. As a result, two of three lanes will be closed at all times.
RDU officials are recommending passengers give themselves extra time if they are traveling to Terminal 2 to be dropped off or picked up.
Motorists heading to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 are advised to use either the I-40 entrance or the I-540/Aviation Parkway entrance to RDU. Delays are anticipated along International Drive at the intersection of Terminal Boulevard. Motorists are also advised to be alert for on-site traffic flagmen and road construction during the overnight hours.
Roadway Repairs on National Guard Drive
RDU will be resurfacing National Guard Drive from Aviation Parkway to the north side of the Park and Ride 3 entrance beginning Monday, September 26 at 7 p.m. Work in this area will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily until Friday, Sept. 30, weather permitting.
