Cancellations expected on Sunday as Hurricane Irene moves up East Coast

RDU Airport, NC – At this time, most airlines at Raleigh-Durham International Airport are reporting that Hurricane Irene will not impact their operations on Saturday, August 27. American Airlines and American Eagle have canceled all flights scheduled for tomorrow. American will resume operations on Sunday at 10 a.m. At this time, approximately 70 of the airport’s 400 daily scheduled flights have been canceled for Saturday.

More cancellations are possible. Airlines at RDU will continue monitoring the hurricane and will make schedule changes based on weather conditions. All customers traveling this weekend should check with their airline either online or by telephone to verify the status of their flight before leaving for the airport.

Many airlines have implemented their inclement weather policies and will change flight reservations without charge. A link to these pages can be found on RDU’s web site.
