Summer Travel Season Kicks Off at Raleigh-Durham International Airport
RDU Airport, NC – Officials at Raleigh-Durham International Airport are gearing up for a busy Memorial Day weekend. Nearly 160,000 passengers are expected to travel through the airport beginning today through Tuesday, May 31, a seven percent increase over last year. The busiest travel day will be Friday, May 27 and airport officials are reminding passengers to give themselves plenty of time to park, check-in with their airlines and catch their flights.
Following are some tips for Memorial Day travelers.
Watch the electronic signs as you enter the airport for information on available parking spaces. The parking garage area closest to Terminal C is currently closed for a preventative maintenance project. Signs will route traffic to the remaining 8,800 garage spaces located between the terminals. If the garage becomes full, motorists will be directed to Park and Ride lots 3 and 4.
Use Exit Express to pay for parking to avoid the lines at the exit plaza. Motorists parking in the garage between the terminals are reminded to keep their parking tickets to pay for parking before they return to their cars. Exit Express pay stations are located along pedestrian walkways between the terminals and parking garage.
Print your boarding pass from your airline's web site. Before leaving for RDU, visit your airline's web site to print out your boarding pass. If you are not checking luggage, you can bypass the ticket counter and go straight to the security checkpoint.
Use your airline's check-in kiosks. Most airlines at RDU feature electronic check-in kiosks at their ticket counters. Simply insert your credit card to receive your boarding pass. Your credit card will not be charged. It is for identification purposes only.
