RDU Parking Rate Changes Go into Effect
RDU Airport, NC – Parking rates at Raleigh-Durham International Airport increased Sunday, January 25, 2004, at 12:01 a.m. The RDU Airport Authority approved the rate increase at its August 2003 meeting. The change is the first in four years and follows the completion of the airport's parking expansion program, which featured two new parking garages located between the terminals.
Before approving an increase in the parking fees, the Authority reviewed parking rates at airports similar to RDU in size and local passenger activity. The review found that at these airports daily parking near the terminals ranged from $7 to $13 per day. The new rate for daily parking at RDU will now be $10 per day, an increase of $2.
Below is the parking rate structure:
Hourly Parking: $1 per hour; $24 daily maximum
Hourly rates remain unchanged.
Daily Parking: $1 per hour; $10 daily maximum
Daily maximum represents an increase of $2.
Park and Ride 3: $6 per day
Rate represents a $1 increase.
Park and Ride 4: $6 per day
Rate represents a $2 increase.
Park and Rides 2 and 5: $5 per day or portion thereof
Rate represents a $1 increase for Park and Ride 5.
The rate increase follows the completion of a nearly $200 million, six year parking expansion program. In the early 1990s, the Authority conducted a customer survey that concluded passengers wanted more parking within walking distance of the terminals.
