TSA Now Requiring Boarding Passes at Security Checkpoint
RDU Airport, NC – The Transportation Security Administration is now requiring boarding passes and a government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s license or passport, at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. TSA’s “Selectee Checkpoint” program enhances security by screening selectees at the security checkpoints where screening equipment and personnel are concentrated.
Passengers are required to have the boarding pass in hand as they enter the security checkpoint. E-ticket receipts, itineraries and vouchers will no longer provide access through the checkpoints, and boarding passes will no longer be issued at the gates. Boarding passes may be obtained on most airline web sites, at ticket counters, through airline computer kiosks or at most skycap curbside stations.
Currently, more than 70% of the nation’s 429 commercial airports require boarding passes at the security checkpoint.
“This change will enhance security and customer service for our passengers,” said Ronald Juhl, TSA Federal Security Director, Raleigh-Durham International Airport. “The smooth transition is indicative of the cooperation that exists between our partners in the airport community here at RDU.”
