ParkRDU Launches April 4
RDU Airport, NC – Starting this spring, customers at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) will have the opportunity to reserve parking based on convenience, location and cost. Today, RDU announced its new parking program, ParkRDU, which launches April 4.
“ParkRDU will transform our customers’ parking experience,” said Michael Landguth, President and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “The program will allow customers to book online, save and ensure they have a place to park upon arrival. It’s convenience meeting world-class service.”
About ParkRDU
Customers will have access to all of RDU’s parking facilities, which have been transformed into three new offerings:
- ParkRDU Central features more than 10,000 spaces within walking distance of both terminals. This area spans most of the main parking garage conveniently located between Terminals 1 and 2.
- ParkRDU Premier features 1,000 spaces in a dedicated, covered area for those wanting the ultimate ease and convenience. This parking area is on the ground level of the main parking garage with direct access to both terminals.
- ParkRDU Economy has more than 9,000 spaces available just a short shuttle ride away from the terminals. This area was formerly called ‘Park and Ride,’ and feature covered shelters, and convenient shuttles.
Online Booking
On May 1, customers can use an online booking system, parkrdu.com, to guarantee garage entry in advance. By booking online, customers can get a rate lower than rates offered at the entry plaza as well as enter and exit the gates by using a QR code on a mobile device or printed confirmation. Discounted book-ahead rates will vary based on reservation demand.
“The online booking system removes the stress of hoping there’s space in your preferred parking area when you arrive for your flight or to greet loved ones,” Landguth said. “By booking ahead of time, customers can ensure they have a spot available when they arrive, and get the lowest rate possible.”

Parking Improvements
In late February, RDU closed various areas of the terminal area garage for cleaning, maintenance, painting and other improvements, such as re-striping spaces, replacing lights and cleaning drainage systems. These areas reopen on April 4.
There are also plans to make improvements to the ParkRDU Economy lots later this spring to improve lighting and repave and restripe sections of those parking lots, among other improvements.
“As part of the new program, we want to make sure our facilities are in the best shape possible,” Landguth said. “We’ll continue to look at ways to improve our offerings and facilities as ParkRDU rolls out to the public in April.”
